DESCRIPTION:This beginner crochet course provides a foundation in the crochet craft\, teaching essential skills\nlike ways to hold the hook\, basic stitches (single crochet\, double crochet\, etc.)\, reading simple\nwritten patterns\, and starting (and maybe finishing) a small project\, all while fostering a fun\nand interactive learning environment. \nWhat you’ll learn:\n Basic Crochet Skills\n How to hold the crochet hook and yarn.\n How to perform basic stitches like single crochet\, double crochet\, and slip stitches.\n How to increase and decrease stitches.\n How to read crochet patterns and stitch charts.\n Project Examples\n We are going to work on a pot-holder or dishcloth using the Corner-to-Corner pattern. \nMaterials provided:\n 1 ball of cotton yarn.\n 1 crochet hook (Size J – 6.0mm) \nAbstract:\nCrochet is a fun and relaxing craft that can be a great way to unwind and express your\ncreativity. It can be easily scaled up or down to create a wide variety of wonderful projects\,\nincluding small projects\, like dish cloths\, and large projects like bedspreads. This course\nfocuses on teaching the fundamental skills to get beginning crochet artists\, like yourself\, started\nand hopefully introducing you to the amazing world of crochet! We will be working on a pattern\ncalled Corner to Corner (C2C)\, which is very popular and consists of a simple repeated pattern\nthat will have you creating amazing homespun items in no time. I have been crocheting for over\n35 years and still consider it one of my favorite hobbies. I love the wide variety of materials\,\npatterns\, and the fact that I can take my crochet anywhere. Hopefully you will fall in love with it\ntoo! \nCorner-to-Corner (C2C) Pattern \nFor a simple corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet pattern\, you’ll work on a diagonal and start with a\nchain of 4\, work 2 double crochet stitches in the 3rd and 4th chains\, then turn and chain 4 to\nstart the next row\, repeating this pattern to build your square or rectangle. The repeating pattern\nis detailed below.\n Row 1: Chain 6\, DC in the 4th chain from hook\, and in the next 2 chains (1 block).\n Row 2: Chain 6\, DC in the 4th chain from hook and in the next 2 chains (1 block)\, slip stitch into the ch-3 space of the previous block\, chain 3\, work 3 DC in the same space (2nd block).\n Row 3: Chain 6\, DC in the 4th chain from hook and in the next 2 chains (1 block)\, slip stitch into the ch-3 space of the previous block\, chain 3\, work 3 DC in the same space (2nd block)\, repeat the previous step to add another block across the row.\n Continuing Rows: Repeat the previous steps to add blocks across each row until the desired size is achieved.\n Decreasing: To decrease blocks\, slip stitch into the ch-3 space of the previous block and work across the existing blocks\, stopping when the desired size is reached. \nSome key tips for beginners:\n Practice: Start with a small project to get comfortable with the stitch and pattern.\n Stitch Variations: You can also use half double crochet or treble crochet stitches for a different look and feel.\n Color Changes: C2C is a great way to create colorful projects\, simply cut the yarn and start a new color when you reach the desired point.
