2024 Visit Muskogee Tourism Award Recipients
Outstanding Community Partner: Port Muskogee
Port Muskogee demonstrated exceptional collaboration with tourism organizations by hosting the 2024 Bassmaster B.A.S.S. Nation Series Tournament. This multi-day event brought hundreds of professional anglers to Three Forks Harbor and showcased Muskogee’s unique charm and resources to anglers and fishing enthusiasts around the globe.
Most Outstanding Event: The 2024 Chili Cookoff
Celebrating its 40th year, the Exchange Club’s Chili Cookoff is Oklahoma’s longest-running chili and BBQ event. In 2024, this sold-out, OKBS-sanctioned event attracted a record-breaking 5,000 attendees during the Azalea Festival, drawing visitors from across the state.
Collaboration Excellence Award: OG&E
OG&E is a staple of philanthropy in the Muskogee community, with a commitment that extends far beyond tourism. As the largest monetary sponsor of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Basketball Championship, OG&E highlighted their dedication to investing in tourism initiatives that elevate Muskogee’s profile and attract visitors from across the region.
Community Tourism Champion: Mike Knupp
Mike Knupp’s exceptional contributions to Muskogee’s tourism landscape include his pivotal role in bringing the NJCAA Basketball Championship to Muskogee. His hands-on involvement ensured the multi-day tournament’s success, solidifying Muskogee’s reputation as a destination for sporting events.

With key attractions and events generating millions in visitor spending annually, Muskogee’s tourism industry contributes nearly $1 million in lodging tax revenue each year and supports more than $30 million in sales tax collections.
