Abstract:
Crochet is a fun and relaxing craft that can be a great way to unwind and express your
creativity. It can be easily scaled up or down to create a wide variety of wonderful projects,
including small projects, like dish cloths, and large projects like bedspreads. This course
focuses on teaching the fundamental skills to get beginning crochet artists, like yourself, started
and hopefully introducing you to the amazing world of crochet! We will be working on a pattern
called Corner to Corner (C2C), which is very popular and consists of a simple repeated pattern
that will have you creating amazing homespun items in no time. I have been crocheting for over
35 years and still consider it one of my favorite hobbies. I love the wide variety of materials,
patterns, and the fact that I can take my crochet anywhere. Hopefully you will fall in love with it
too!

Corner-to-Corner (C2C) Pattern

For a simple corner-to-corner (C2C) crochet pattern, you’ll work on a diagonal and start with a
chain of 4, work 2 double crochet stitches in the 3rd and 4th chains, then turn and chain 4 to
start the next row, repeating this pattern to build your square or rectangle. The repeating pattern
is detailed below.
 Row 1: Chain 6, DC in the 4th chain from hook, and in the next 2 chains (1 block).
 Row 2: Chain 6, DC in the 4th chain from hook and in the next 2 chains (1 block), slip stitch into the ch-3 space of the previous block, chain 3, work 3 DC in the same space (2nd block).
 Row 3: Chain 6, DC in the 4th chain from hook and in the next 2 chains (1 block), slip stitch into the ch-3 space of the previous block, chain 3, work 3 DC in the same space (2nd block), repeat the previous step to add another block across the row.
 Continuing Rows: Repeat the previous steps to add blocks across each row until the desired size is achieved.
 Decreasing: To decrease blocks, slip stitch into the ch-3 space of the previous block and work across the existing blocks, stopping when the desired size is reached.

Some key tips for beginners:
 Practice: Start with a small project to get comfortable with the stitch and pattern.
 Stitch Variations: You can also use half double crochet or treble crochet stitches for a different look and feel.
 Color Changes: C2C is a great way to create colorful projects, simply cut the yarn and start a new color when you reach the desired point.
