PROFESSIONAL BASKETBALL SOARS INTO MUSKOGEE: SKYKINGS ANNOUNCE PERMANENT RELOCATION
MUSKOGEE, OK. – The City of Muskogee and Visit Muskogee are proud to welcome minor-league professional basketball to Muskogee. The team formerly known as the Western Oklahoma Skykings has officially announced their relocation to Muskogee, Oklahoma. Effective immediately, the franchise will compete as the Muskogee Skykings.
The Skykings, a member of The Basketball League (TBL), are bringing high-octane, minor league professional basketball to the community.
A New Era, A New Look Accompanying the relocation is the reveal of the team’s bold new identity. The Muskogee Skykings logo features a fierce, determination-filled eagle gripping a basketball, wreathed in dynamic flames. The team’s official colors will be black, gold, and white, symbolizing power, excellence, and the igniting of a new basketball tradition in the city.
“We are incredibly excited to plant our roots in Muskogee,” said Jonathan Reed, owner of the Skykings. “This isn’t just about moving a team; it’s about becoming a part of this city. Muskogee has a rich history and a passionate community, and we believe the Skykings will provide the high-energy, family-friendly entertainment that sports fans here deserve. We are here to stay.”
Featuring former NBA and G-League players, The Basketball League fields teams from across the country. The league culminates in playoff format to determine the league champion. The Skykings are committed to reaching not only the championship pinnacle but involvement in the Muskogee community.
Home games will feature not just basketball, but a full entertainment experience including halftime shows, fan contests, and merchandise giveaways.
The Muskogee Skykings are currently finalizing their schedule for the upcoming season. Home games will be played at the Ron D. Milam gym on the Muskogee HS campus. Season ticket packages and sponsorship opportunities are now available.
“We invite the entire Muskogee community to join us for our inaugural season,” added Jonathan Reed. “Together, we are going to build something special. It’s time to fly!”
