Muskogee Tourism Authority Launches Film Office To Capitalize On Oklahoma’s Booming Industry

Muskogee, OK – The Muskogee Tourism Authority is proud to announce the establishment of the Muskogee Film Office, branded Film Muskogee, a key initiative designed to position the city as a premier destination for film and television productions, driving economic growth and opportunities for the local community.

As the eighth local film office to be established in Oklahoma, Film Muskogee marks a significant milestone in the city’s efforts to boost tourism, create jobs, and foster a diverse economy. By showcasing the community’s natural beauty and scenic charm to filmmakers, Muskogee is now well-positioned to capture a share of the state’s booming film industry.

“The establishment of this office is a game changer for our city,” said Evelyn Hibbs, Chair of the Muskogee Tourism Authority, “This initiative positions Muskogee as a global destination for filmmakers, creating a ripple effect that will strengthen our economy, benefit local businesses, and create opportunities for our residents. It’s more than just a boost to our profile—it’s an investment in the future of Muskogee.”

The office will be led by Bryce Marshall, an experienced videographer from Eastern Oklahoma. Marshall will oversee operations and help filmmakers take full advantage of the city’s unique offerings. The office will provide essential services such as location scouting, permit assistance, and connections to incentives, ensuring that Muskogee is an attractive and accessible option for productions of all sizes. Additionally, Marshall will facilitate collaborations between filmmakers and local businesses, accommodations, and talent, maximizing the resources available across the region.

Benefits to Muskogee

Film and television productions are known for their significant economic impact, and Oklahoma’s film industry is no exception. In fiscal year 2021, the industry generated over $170 million in spending across the state and created more than 7,900 jobs, according to the Oklahoma Film & Music Office.

Muskogee has also earned the prestigious “Film Friendly” designation from the Oklahoma Film & Music Office, further solidifying the city’s commitment to fostering a supportive environment for filmmakers.

“I applaud the Muskogee Tourism Authority on the launch of their local film office,” said Jeanette Stanton, Director of the Oklahoma Film & Music Office, “In addition to their ‘Film Friendly’ certification, the establishment of their own film office provides an additional layer of support, resources, and opportunities for film and television productions in Oklahoma. This move also enhances Muskogee’s potential for economic impact and workforce development.”

Looking Ahead

In the coming weeks, Film Muskogee will announce a local incentive program designed to complement and align with the state’s successful film incentives. The additional local incentive program will make Muskogee an even more attractive destination for film and television productions.

“We’re excited about the future of filmmaking in Muskogee,” said Bryce Marshall, Director of Film Muskogee, “This is just the beginning. We look forward to collaborating with filmmakers and showcasing Muskogee as a destination for world-class productions.”
