Hinton Theatre 1907The Hinton Theatre was at 3rd and Court Streets. This picture was taken in 1907, two years after opening. Notables such as: Will Rogers, Helen Keller, William Howard Taft, William Jennings Bryan, Al Jolson, Maude Adams and Enrico Caruso performed or gave programs at the Hinton while it was in operation.

City of Muskogee Steamboat 2The "City of Muskogee" steamboat.In 1908, the Muskogee Commercial Club purchased this steamboat and named it "City of Muskogee" to help promote Muskogee. The boat made daily excursions out of Hyde Park until 1912, when it was purchased by Joshua Harman to transport freight between Muskogee and Little Rock, Arkansas. Dr. Leo Bennett (right) and John Dudding (left). Bennett was a trained surgeon and dentist, also served as a US Indian agent, founder of the Muskogee Phoenix newspaper, owner of the Adams Hotel, a director of the First National Bank, and a US Marshal before Oklahoma's statehood. Bennett died in 1917 of complications from tuberculosis.
